Presenting a beautiful lawn takes a lot of planning and time. Knowing the proper nutrients and when to apply them is important to maintaining a healthy weed free lawn. ProGreen has a comprehensive turf and weed control plan that applies the appropriate products at the proper time to ensure maximum effectiveness. Taking into consideration current weather conditions such as wind speed and direction and surface temperature. Having a 100% weed free lawn is almost impossible to maintain. However, with a proper combination of applied fertilizer and weed control efforts an 90-95% weed free lush healthy lawn is a very achievable expectation.
ProGreen has a 5-application fertilizer/weed control plan that, if followed and watered as directed, will produce a healthy and nearly weed free lawn.
5 Application Fertilizer/Weed Control plan
App 1
Granular fertilizer with pre-emergent and crabgrass preventer.
This application is put down in the early spring. It gives your lawn a much-needed boost of nutrients to start the season. It is also the most important application because it contains a pre-emergent to prevent crabgrass germination.

Liquid application of Broadleaf weed control. This application is applied in the late spring. It targets a wide variety of broadleaf weeds common to Minnesota including dandelion, creeping charlie and wild violet.

Granular slow-release fertilizer. A slow-release granular application to provide your lawn the necessary nutrients to thrive during the hot summer months. It is put down in mid-summer.

Liquid application of Broadleaf weed control. This is post-emergent herbicide is applied in late summer to early fall. It specifically targets actively growing weeds such as crab grass, thistle and clover.

Granular slow-release fertilizer. The final application of the season is applied in the fall. It is a slow-release formula designed to give your lawn the necessary nutrients to use during the dormant winter months.
WEED CONTROL (NO FERTILIZER)
For customers who don’t want to fertilize and only want help with weed control ProGreen offers it’s Weed Buster Plan. This is two applications of liquid broadleaf weed control. Does not include crabgrass preventer.
The best time to control and treat weeds is when they are actively growing.
App 1
This application is applied in late spring. It targets broadleaf weeds commonly found in Minnesota like dandelion, thistle, creeping charlie and wild violet. Weather conditions may affect when this application takes place. ProGreens licensed applicator is trained to recognize proper conditions and do the application when conditions are right. Customers are notified prior to the visits.
App 2
The second application of the Weed Buster Plan is done in the late summer. It targets actively growing weeds. Crabgrass usually appears in the late summer. The most effective way to control crabgrass is to apply a pre-emergent in the spring. This application will be effective in controlling actively growing crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds. Customers are notified prior to the visit and the application will be done when the weather conditions are right.
LANDSCAPE/HARD SURFACE WEED CONTROL
ProGreen offers a weed control service that targets landscape and hard surface areas.
This service offers a combination of spraying and hand pulling weeds. It includes landscape areas such as rock and mulch beds and hard surfaces such as patios, driveway and sidewalk cracks.
This plan consists of 5 evenly spaced visits from late spring to fall. It targets actively growing weeds in areas separate from your turf. Small weeds will be sprayed, and large weeds will be hand pulled and taken away.
5 visits are the minimum offered however additional visits may be scheduled if needed. Additional visit requests require a 2-day notice. Weather conditions determine if a scheduled visit will be completed.
